2 Active Notices
Fri 2:29 AM → Fri 9:00 AM EST
WHAT
For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low as 20. For the Freeze Warning, sub-freezing temperatures as low as 24.
WHERE
Portions of northeast and northern Florida.
WHEN
Until 9 AM EST this morning.
IMPACTS
The cold wind chills as low as 20 degrees could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken. Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure. Appropriate action should be taken to ensure tender vegetation and outdoor pets have adequate protection from the cold temperatures. Young children, the elderly and the homeless are especially vulnerable to the cold. Take measures to protect them.
Recommendations
Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to drip slowly.
