Big Island Windward Waters... * Until 430 AM HST. * At 226 AM HST, a strong thunderstorm capable of producing gusty winds of 34 knots or greater and waterspouts was located 14 nm east of Cape Kumukahi, or 15 nm east of Kapoho, moving northeast at 10 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. * Locations impacted include... Cape Kumukahi, FAD Buoy E, FAD Buoy D, FAD Buoy G, FAD Buoy SS, Hilo Harbor, FAD Buoy KH, and FAD Buoy RN.
Recommendations
