WHAT: Northeast winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 55 mph. Wind Chills as low as 35 below zero. Reduced visibility to 1 mile or less at times in blowing snow along the coast.
WHERE: Kuskokwim Delta Coast, including Nunivak Island and Interior Kuskokwim Delta.
WHEN: Until 1 PM AKST this afternoon.
IMPACTS: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Blowing snow may cause significantly reduced visibility along the coast. Frostbite may occur in as little as 10 minutes on exposed skin.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Strong gusty northerly winds along the coast have lofted previously fallen snow and have caused significant visibility reductions. The lowest visibilities have been observed across Nelson Island, including the communities of Tununak and Toksook Bay. Gusty winds will slowly diminish this afternoon. Cold wind chills 20 to 30 below will persist through early this week.
