Typhoon Bavi is currently located 480 miles north of Yap and 720 miles northeast of Koror, Palau near 16.5N 138.5E moving west northwest at 17 mph. Maximum sustained winds are 145 mph. Although Yap and Palau are expected to remain outside of Bavi's direct wind field, surging west to southwest around 20 to 30 knots with gusts of 40 to 45 knots is expected. These stronger gusts are most likely to occur near heavier showers and rainbands. Hazardous marine conditions are on tap the next couple of days. Inter island travel will be hazardous and dangerous surf will continue along north and west facing reefs. Conditions look to improve late this week into early next week.
